They can even put their colleagues on speakerphone and carry on a medical consultation while simultaneously browsing through the imaging results.

The MIM iPhone Application is a new multi-modality imaging application for the Apple® iPhoneTM and iPod® touch. This innovative software allows a referring physician or patient to view medical images remotely, without being tied to an imaging workstation.

Notice on their website: This is an EXPERIMENTAL version – it is NOT a product, nor is its presence here a commitment of any kind, express or implied, that StyleTap Inc. will ever release an official version of StyleTap CrossPlatform for Apple iPhone or iPod Touch.

Are we aware of plans to have the full Epocrates Essentials available on iPhone 3G?

  4. sreeram says:

    To Mr Richard Goldman

According to Epocrates website Epocrates Essential is not available on Iphone 3g.

Thank you so much for this website. It officially made my decision to purchase an iphonealot easier. As an advanced didactic PA student, I’m preparing to go out into rotations and all the applications I can use to make my experience even better, really helps. Please update us to any more programs that may be available!

  6. ePocrates IS available on the iphone now, it was released with the 3G version. Also, it is only the “Rx” version, but I have heard that the full suite “Essentials” will be out within a few months. I was very happy to see Netter’s Anatomy Flash cards out… Let’s hope the Thieme Atlas publishers can do something similar as they are the first images and illustration superior to Netter!!!

  7. Nice blog, i have added it to my favourites, greetings

  8. Ron Jeffrey says:

At the moment I understand that “Epocrates on Iphone” is the only application that does not require a wireless conection to access drug info. The drug profiles are loaded onto the iPhone. This means in an area where there is not a signal, drug data and profiles can still be searched since the data base is on the iPhone. Secondly it is a free data base with web/wireless updates.

To pay for and have to rely on medical information soley dependent on wireless availability is fool hardy. Also any drug data can be accessed on the Internet for free by doing a search. Information and data has to be available on the iPhone as a data base, decisions regarding patient safety and health cannot be held hostage and dependent on the availability of a wireless conection.

Hopefully the current medical applications and reference material available for the current line of pocket PCs and Palms will become available soon for the iPhone.

The iPhone/iPod Touch are totally the way to go for medical education. As a student who misplaced his school-issued PDA sometime at the beginning of clerkship and replaced it with an iPod Touch, I can’t believe how much better these devices are. There’s an absolute boom in programming so there’s tons of good software available, patients love them, and it’s a great way to impress old surgeons who marvel at the pretty pictures.

  11. Charles Boucher-Hayes says:

Bought a large number of medical apps for iPhone for Atlas products both Netter’s Anatomy Flash Cards and Skeletal System Plus are worth the purchase. Netter covers the whole body but not in great detail while Skeletal System Plus covers the skeleton and Ligaments in real detail. A good app is worth its weight in gold to a medical professional- so many uses.
