I have recently stumbled across a publication by National council of applied economic research (link) by Jatinder S Bedi & H Ramachandran. This is a working paper with title “Human Development Index for Rural Andhra Pradesh” it is a 39 page document and can be downloaded from NCAER website (link). This publication is based on IAMR survey that was undertaken in 2001. This publication will provide in detail analysis of difference of various human development index values in various districts in the state. Full publication can be accessed via above links but I am posting some tables so that you can see how the real growth and development is spread across rural parts of the state.
Their Conclusion clearly shows improving human development index in rural population of all three regions of Andhra Pradesh. The publication did not show selective lower growth and development in Telangana region. There were districts which are good like Khammam topping among all districts in AP. Of top 5 positions there were 2 Telangana districts, 2 Costal Andhra districts, and one Rayalaseema district. In bottom 5 positions there were 3 Costal Andhra districts and 2 Telangana districts.
This document proves that people are not bothered about real growth and development. Rather people stick on to lies provided by corrupt politicians like KCR. These politicians then ignite hatred among people. Do you guys remember the famous notion “Divide and rule”.
This district-wise analysis reveals that Khammam, Krishna, West Godavari, Chittoor and Medak are the five districts with highest HDI in ascending order in rural AP. There is high correlation among all the indicators. Mahbubnagar, East Godavari, Warangali, Visakhapatanam and Guntur are the districts with lowest HDI. The data show that the poor make up 16.3 per cent of the total population in rural AP and expenditure on consumption is around 13.5 per cent of the total consumption expenditure. The female literacy rate is 0.66 compared to male literacy rate in rural AP. The district-wise variations for poverty ratio are high and low for ratio of female/male literacy rate.

Hi Mahmut Maha
At first glance looking through tables and figures two interesting points
1. Poverty levels in 2000
rural telangana (20.6) fares better than costal andhra (24.3), rayalaseema (I 33.1, II 22.3)
Same with urban telangana but that is due to Hyderabad
2.Infrastructure index 2004
Despite Hyderabad on top many telangana districts are in the bottom part of the table.
Infrastructure index according to document is based on availability of facilities, I dont think it mentions Infrastructure per population density. My Idea on this is probably population density. Lower population lower infrastructure.
I feel that over all development of the State should be seen with National Average. The economic disparities between different districts is due availability of natural resources and human development. These studies are to help the people at the helm of affairs to take corrective steps.
coming to the subject, politicians are responsible for the backwardness of the concerned districts. The M.P.s and M.L.A. s are not bothered about their respective districts. Now, they can not raise their voice that somebody is partial towards some districts and neglected others. The assembly sessions are wasted by some of the legislatures irresponsible behavior on unnessary issues and thus useful matters are given proper importance.
By creating a separate state there will be more administrative expenditure. Instead let us concentrate on deficiencies and in a planned way the economic disparities can be rectified. The performances of two independent states i.e., Jarkhand and Chattisgarh created few years ago, tells us that creation of separate state do not solve economic development of the population. It is sincerity and dedication of all concerned i.e., politicians and officials in planning and implementing various programs that suit the people of the region.
I am afraid thatmmere stastics does not reveal the actual conditions existing. for eg. we find Karimnagar and Warangal districts competing with south coastal dists. But truth remains that while The ryots of S.Coastal districts are benefited bu canal irrigation can have 3 crops without much expenditure on theirpart the farmers of K’nagar and W”gl dists depend on bore well irrigation for they have to invest a lot of money. With depletin groun water and irregular poer supply every yr they r incurring huge losses.Same is the case with their Rayalaseema counterparts.Hence we c farmers’s suicides more in these regions. The same may b mentioned in regard of industrial development in Rangareddy,Medak dists ,the cause being their contiguiity to Hyderabad city
Iam afraid that u r wrong in talking about the development of Chattishghar, and other small states recently created. Statistics prove that all those districts consistently maintained good development since their formation.More in smaller states alone peple can exert mpre pressue on their Govts. as administraton will b nearer to them.Division of the erstwhile taluks into Mandals proved that. In regard of sicerity and dedication of our Politicians It like searhing for apin in haystock.Only peoples pressure bring them towork. And that is easier in small states
Good information. Actual conditions may slightly differ. But The districts Like Vizianagaram, Ananthapuram, Srikakulam, and Adilabad are not came in Least 5. This is unbeliavable. The least shown districts in the index like Guntur , Warangal and east godavari are formost better in all aspects compared to Vizianagaram, Ananthapuram, Srikakulam, and Adilabad . Mahaboobnagar is Correctly mentioned.
But any have what they taken for measuring this index I dont know but as I visited and stayed almost all parts of Andhra Pradesh I saw a direct Index.
But in any aspect the separate Telangana demand is Rubbish and it is only political. Poor and bright students are losing their lifes and valuable education because of ignorence. Development required somany parts of Andhra as I mentioned the districts. Undeveloped districts like Vizianagaram, Srikakulam in Coastal region, Ananthapur in Rayalaseema, Mahaboobnagar, Adilabad in Telangana. So, there is no question of a separate states. But for later on one should think about some good packages and industrial corridors along with basic amenities in these districts. No Telangana, No Rayalaseema, No Uttarcoasta, No Greater Hyderabad. We are UNITED ANDHRA.
