Learning to use digital video

Saturday, January 19th, 2008

I started trying to get my youtube channel running mostly to keep in touch with family across the world. Though I started filming after I recently brought SONY DCR SR 52, I am starting to believe that it is not going to be easy ride. First of all these recorded videos doesn’t play by default in Widows media player and real player, which I commonly use. I need to learn about video editing now and formatting. Bit more searching I found this post from Neville Hobson opened my knowledge bit further, so I will now start trying to know and will keep posting about how its going on.

Democratic voting to rate the articles in surgical journals

Monday, December 25th, 2006

There are lot of surgical journals and lots of material being published but surgeons only have limited time to read all of them. I feel in the limited time they need to read the quality information. But how to find the quality in the thousands of the journals available. I got an Idea they can be voted or rated by the individual people reading the website, and so good articles get more votes and people can see them. Journal Digest in EYST is designed in this way. Initially the EYST journal digest was planned as an aggregator of all latest surgical journals with out the voting bit, but upon seeing Digg and Pligg website I thought this is the way forward. So I set up them with voting. I feel that this will be useful to surgeons, who don’t have a lot of spare time.

Drupal 5 beta 1 version

Sunday, November 5th, 2006

I am a heavy supporter of Drupal for content management also it is the CMS for all my websites apart from my blog which is Wordpress. I have to say that Drupal 5 really looks cool. It has cool admin theme and good admin lay out. It appears as a GUI version of old Drupal releases. I as ardent supporter of Drupal CMS will work hard to squeeze the bugs out of the new beta version and report back to developers.

The new version is currently being piloted at my Liverpool blog at Liverpool.drpenna.com. You are all welcome to join and visit it and also test it your self how it works.

Insecure in foreign land

Wednesday, July 5th, 2006

Well it is difficult for me to write this post. But recent events certainly are making me to feel more insecure, like being stopped at every place for checking my passports and identification (in Manchester airport the lady checked my passport for at least five times in three different occasions, and to-day in Liverpool port officer stopped me and asked loads of questions even though I had correct paper work).
